Children forced by Earthquake and Tsunami to change schools have written to a gvt-run counseling service.

地震と津波で転校を余儀なくされた子供たちが、政府が運営するカウンセリングサービスに宛てて手紙を書いています。

They are telling of bullying and lingering stress from the disasters.

子供たちは、いじめや、災害により悩まされ続けているストレスについて、訴えています。

The service was started in 2006 by MOJ's Human Rights Bureau at elementary and junior high schools around the country.

このサービスは、2006年に、法務省の人権局によって始められたもので、国内の小中学校が対象とされています。

Students can write on a prepared letter about problems they can't talk to friends or family about and post it in a mailbox.

生徒たちは、友人や家族に話すことのできない問題について、備えられた用紙に書いて、ポストに投函することができます。

The letter is delivered to the nearest legal affairs bureau.

その手紙は、最寄の法務局に配達されます。

Gvt employees or volunteers write back and work with schools or youth counseling services as necessary.

政府の職員や、ボランティアたちが、返事を書き、必要に応じて学校や青少年カウンセリングサービスと協力して問題に対応します。

Sutudents wrote, "I was at school when the tsunami hit. Now I attend a different school, but I feel I'm being ostracized."

"I've been bullied at the school I transferred to. I can't talk to any teachers about it. A bully even said to me, 'Too bad you didn't die in the tsunami.'"

"I constantly wonder why my family had to die and can't focus on studying."

"My father who was living in Tohoku died in the tsunami, and I can't accept it as reality."

I think this service by Human Rights Bureau is meaningfu. I hope such service will be developed increasingly with more related people.

人権局によるこのサービスは、有意義であると思います。このようなサービスが、より多くの関係者の協力により、さらに充実されることを期待しています。

Dog saved 2 lives 二人の命を救った犬

A town mayor awarded a dog for keeping his owner and his granddaughter warm during a freezing night after their car crashed.

凍える夜、クラッシュした車の中で一晩中、飼い主とその孫娘を暖め続けた一匹の犬が、町長から表彰されました。

The dog's name is "Junior." He is a 7-year-old male Labrador Retriever.

その犬の名前はジュニア。7才の雄のラブラドールレトリーバーです。

Owner and granddaughter were found in overturned car after the 2 had gone out to walk Junior the day before but had failed to return home.

飼い主と孫娘は、ジュニアを散歩に連れて行くと言って出かけたきり、帰宅しませんでした。その翌日、二人はひっくり返った車の中で発見されました。

The 2 were stuck in the wrecked car along with Junior, who kept them warm througout the freezing Hokkaido night.

二人は大破した車の中に、ジュニアとともに閉じ込められました。ジュニアは北海道の凍てつく夜を通して二人を温め続けました。

They survived the accident thanks to Junior, police said.

二人はジュニアのおかげで生き残った、と警察は言いました。

The town mayor awarded Junior with a gold medal attached to a collar and dog food in the shape of a bone.

その町の町長は、ジュニアの首に金メダルをかけ、骨の形のドッグフードを与えて、彼を表彰しました。
